About Humphrey Isselt
Hi, I am Humphrey Isselt, born 22 December 1965 Paramaribo Suriname (South America). Since the first time I could hold a pencil in my hands I started drawing. I am a very curious man who wants to understand life and behavior. That is why I am a coach, both business and individual, an author of at this time 9 books, a photographer and a painting artist. I do not regard painting and drawing as a hobby, for me it is a way of expressing what I see in a way words can not do. Art by me has been acquired by collectors in America, Australia, Asia, Germany and Holland. Galleries have often asked me to make a 'recognizable' collection so they can 'sell' my work better. The thing is, I love exploring and that means I will try and do what gets my attention. It can be a landscape, an abstract, a naked body, an animal etc. I can draw, paint, photograph. So why should I stick to just one thing? Most recently, for the last 5 years, I have been exploring the possibility of digitally painting with gold. I could not find any digital gold paintings that were satisfactory. They all looked so artificial. To shiny, to unreal to ... well... After almost 5 years of trying and failing it suddenly happened, I looked at a gold painting which enlarged showed the detail of an acrylic painting but in original size looks like it was cast in gold. Fair enough the results are as a crafted work should be, divers. During my search I also got interested in making digital art that reflects the real strokes of a painting. This was because I got so busy as a coach that I could not find the time to paint are draw. I did not like that; coming home and seeing that empty canvas still waiting for my to touch it. So I started painting digitally with a tablet and a combination of 6 'art-ware' programs which I combined to give me the quality and results I wanted. See for yourself!
